This month, we’re celebrating five years since Pulse launched advertising opportunities within Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, marking an important milestone in helping brands and organisations connect with audiences across one of Derbyshire’s key healthcare settings.

Our five-year partnership with Chesterfield Royal Hospital has created value for both the Trust and advertisers – generating advertising revenue to support patients and services, while providing advertisers with a trusted environment to connect with patients, visitors, NHS colleagues and the wider local community.

Broad reach at the heart of the community

Karlie Thompson, Associate Director of Communications, said: “Chesterfield Royal Hospital cares for around 400,000 people and, across our Group, we have almost 6,000 colleagues, as well as partners and visitors coming through our doors every day. That creates a significant opportunity for businesses to be seen by thousands of people.”

Through Pulse’s strategically located digital screens, lift wraps and multiple large and small-format poster opportunities throughout the hospital, advertisers can build awareness through exposure at multiple points during a visit. This varied mix of formats enables brands to reach audiences across different areas of the hospital, while demonstrating a commitment to the communities they serve.

Karlie continues: “For local organisations in particular, advertising here offers the chance to put useful products and services in front of people in their own community including during the natural waiting time that comes with a hospital visit.”

A connected regional audience

Sitting at the heart of the East Midlands, Chesterfield is within easy reach of Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham and Mansfield. The town also has a significant commuter population due to a growing economy and major employers, with more than 20,000 people travelling into Chesterfield for work each day. This means the audience extends beyond local residents, bringing together people who live, work and visit the area.

Chesterfield is also the gateway to the world-famous Peak District National Park, attracting visitors throughout the year and adding to the area’s appeal as a destination for tourism, leisure and outdoor activities.

For advertisers, this combination of local residents, regional connectivity and a diverse visitor audience creates opportunities to build awareness with people from Chesterfield, Derbyshire and beyond.

Looking ahead

The breadth of the audience also makes Chesterfield an attractive environment for a wide range of advertisers. Family-focused brands, motor dealers, financial services, education, property, charities, healthcare, and wellbeing are just some of the sectors that can benefit from reaching audiences in this setting.

Five years on, Pulse Outdoor Media is proud to continue its partnership with Chesterfield Royal Hospital and to support the Trust in providing revenue through advertising campaigns.

Stuart Ellis, Commercial and Strategy Director at Derbyshire Support & Facilities Services (DSFS), said: “As the organisation responsible for managing commercial opportunities across the hospital estate, we want to make the best use of our spaces while supporting the wider Group.

Working with Pulse gives us the opportunity to build on an established partnership, attract more local advertisers and develop new locations for advertising. Increasing occupancy across our existing sites, and expanding into the right new areas, can generate additional, sustainable income that ultimately supports the services we provide.”
